Miracle child - Ella Erwin

Ella - Christmas 2007

At 26 weeks pregnant my sister, Denise Erwin, found out that she and her unborn baby had something called diag trachea.  This is where the stomach and the small intestine are not completely closed. Normally the connection is to be in a circle, kind of like a water hose.  Also with this the amino fluid was leaking out of the umbilical cord into my sister's stomach. They had told my sister that once the baby was born they would have to rush Ella(the baby) to emergency surgery to connect the two.  At 31 weeks they decided the fluid was causing pressure.  The pressure was causing my sister to go into premature labor.  The doctor decided to drain 2 liters of fluid off her stomach.  After the draining they did a test on the baby and found that the stomach had connected to the small intestine but now it was pinched closed kind of like if you pinched a water hose together.  Therefore, Ella was not getting the nutrients and proteins she needed. The doctor then said they would have to do the surgery but it would not be as serious as the first one would have been.  At 36 weeks my sister went into labor and Ella was born.

When Ella was born she weighed 6lbs 1oz. unusual for a premie.  Because she did not have the proteins and nutrients in her body the wanted to wait three days to do the surgery to open the whole connecting the stomach and small intestine.  When they went to do the surgery her insides were mirrored. Everything on the right side was supposed to be on the left side and visa versa.  Because the appendix was so far off they had to remove it but rearranged everything else.  The surgery went well all in all.

After the surgery they had to insert a central line in the chest straight to the stomach so they could teach the stomach to digest it's food since it did not learn this while Ella was in the womb.  They told my sister that Ella would lose weight during the process, not to expect anything for at least 15 days, and that Ella would be in the hospital for a minimum of 90 days.  Well in 6 days God did another miracle.  Ella went to the bathroom on her own.  10 days after the surgery she had not gone to the bathroom since the 6th day. The doctor decided to give her a suppository. She went to the bathroom 5 times that day.  On the 11th day the doctor decided it would be okay to try and bottle feed her. He told my sister not to expect too much because at first the baby would not want to eat.  Well she wanted to eat every 3 hours.  Then the doctor's told her that after 3 days of eating for some reason the baby would stop eating and they would have to feed her through her central line.  Well she didn't do that either.  On the 3 day she began eating every two hours.  Now this is 15 days later and she had done nothing the doctor's have said she would do.  On the 16th day they took the feeding tube out and my sister got to breastfeed Ella for the first time.

On March 2nd 18 days later Ella got to go home. No tubes, no wires, no nothing.  She was doing excellent.  My sister took her back to the doctor on March 5th for a check up.  The doctor told my sister he was just amazed. My sister asked the doctor why?  He comments were "Well she's not even supposed to be here yet. Then, she's not supposed to be going to the bathroom or eating yet.  And she's definitely not supposed to be home yet.  And what we did not tell you was that once she would get to go home she would have to wear a colonoscopy bag for the first two years of her life and she does not have to."  My sister began to weep because she new it was the hand of God that moved upon my niece that has made her a very healthy child.  Ella is now 10 months old, she plays and acts like any normal child.

 Sis Marsha's testimony

Marsha WyattI was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 1987 or there abouts. It was called non-A / non-B back then because it was new.

I had a liver biopsy to determine the diagnosis, then I just kinda of put it in the back of my mind. Then in mid 2000, I ran into the nurse that worked for the doctor that I saw for my biopsy and she told me that they had been trying to find me because there was a trial study out on a new medication that they wanted me to participate in. My viral load was at 3,000,000. I was on this medicine for about a year and a half. My viral load only dropped to 350,000. My son died, so I did not feel that I could continue on with it as it made me very ill. This was in October of 2002.

I decided several years later that maybe I needed to see if there was anything else that I could do as now I am raising my 2  grandchildren. I went to UAMS GI clinic to see what my options were. I had a lot of tests ran and procedures done to see if I could start treatment again. They were reluctant to start me on it as I had not cleared the last time. They checked my viral load which was 12,000,000. They did a liver biopsy which showed that I had stage 4 liver disease. I was really upset because of the seriousness of my illness. I had to have more test and procedures performed to make sure that I could benefit from this medicine. It could throw me into full liver failure but I was willing to take that chance. I put my trust in the Lord and decided that no matter what happened, I was okay with it.

About a week later, we had revival at church with Brother Plemmons. I was healed from my Stage 4 liver disease. I went back to UAMS the next week for a MRI of my liver. The results were amazing. There was no scarring, no lesions and my liver was a normal size. I was to start treatment as soon as my medication came in. I thanked Jesus over and over again and asked him to use me for his glory. Before I took my first injection I had another viral load performed for a baseline. My load had dropped from 12,000,00 to 4,000,000 without any treatment from man. However, the Great Physician was continuously working on me. I started treatment 10-12 weeks ago. My viral load is now 1000. My liver enzymes are normal for the first time in years. I know that I will be completely cleared from this terrible disease. God was not an ever present being in my life the first time around. This time I have complete faith in God and he is very much a presence in my life. I am so glad that I know the peace that passes all understanding. And I know that no matter what happens, God loves me. I give Him all the Praise and the Glory that only He deserves. He is my rock and I am so thankful that I am in THE Potters's hand.
I believe that no matter what happens, it is God's plan for my life and I know that God does not make mistakes. I know that if you truly believe and put your trust in the Promises that he has for us all, he will keep his word. I don't understand a lot of why things happen in life, but I don't really question it either.
God continues to bless me every day in every way. You just have to learn to recognize some things as a blessing even if at the time, it may look like a disaster to you. Remember that God sees all of eternity. We can only see whats in front of out face most of the time. That is where trust and faith comes in.
